NEWQUAY Male Voice Choir (MVC) has announced a packed agenda for 2014 as it celebrates 40 years of singing.

Members will mark the milestone with a string of performances – including a planned concert in the resort’s twin town of Dinard in France in October.

They will link up with other choirs for several events, including groups from Bournemouth, Mousehole, Wadebridge, Pelynt and Tamar Valley.

Three members of the choir, Arnold Lancaster, Stuart Tamblyn and Roy Truscott, were there from the start and many other members have enjoyed a long and distinguished service.

Choir spokesman Jim Christophers said: “Under its present MD, Judith Pinguey, Newquay MVC has developed into a forward looking, prize winning choir with a lively, entertaining modern repertoire of music, making Newquay MVC concerts fun and enjoyable for all.

“A good night out is guaranteed at any performance. Newquay MVC is keen to support the local community and many of their concerts raise funds for local charities.”

The choir’s first concert will be held in the Hotel Victoria at 8pm on Saturday (February 1).
