PUPILS at a local school have created a garden area to help produce their own packed lunches.

A group of 12 to 14-year-old pupils at Ninemaidens AP Academy, in Four Lanes, Cornwall's largest provider of education for vulnerable children, have created raised beds in their garden area.

A local branch of B&Q was approached and immediately set to help. Within days the firm had delivered materials, and provided two members of staff to enable the young people to harness their enthusiasm and create their ideal growing area.

Jonathan Stocker, head teacher, said: "It's so refreshing to see our students work together and have the confidence to take ownership of this project – very often they haven't taken part in such opportunities before.

"We're really grateful to B&Q for their amazing support in making this happen – with materials and for providing positive advice."
