Cornish beauty spots has made their way on to a list of UK beaches deemed so picturesque that they could be mistaken for exotic far-flung destinations.

Porthcurno near Land's End and Kynance Cove on the Lizard peninsula and are just some of the places included in the article 33 Beaches You’d Never Believe Were In Britain, which compares their perfect sandy shores and clear blue waters to those of the Mediterranean.

Porthmeor Cove, Crackington Haven and Pedn Vounder in Cornwall are also named on the Buzzfeed list, as well as Salcombe, Woolacombe and East Portlemouth in Devon,

An image of St. Michael’s Mount is accompanied by the comment: “Turkey? No, just another beautiful spot in Cornwall” while Broad sands is likened to a Fijian paradise.

A total of 15 beautiful South West beaches are featured among the 33, alongside several sites in Scotland, three in Kent and three in Wales.

Some readers disagreed with the website’s choice however, with one commenting: “Where the heck are the stunning beaches in the Isles of Scilly. Hands down the most beautiful in the UK.”

Another sceptical commentator added: “Beautiful beaches, but how about that 14°C water temp?”.
