“We are disturbed, therefore, to hear that David Cameron plans to spend £55,000,000 on "truly national commemorations" to mark this anniversary. Mr. Cameron has quite inappropriately compared these to the "Diamond Jubilee celebrations" and stated that their aim will be to stress our "national spirit".

    That ex soldier, ex SAS as well, deserves a pat on the bag for making a principled stand. I am glad that people are slowly waking up to Camoron and his Westminster ilk.

    Can't spend a penny to help those on the Somerset levels until he thinks he might lose a few votes but can spend all that to commemorate a war about which nothing good can be said.

    Anybody who takes delight in his/her national team, and yes Cornwall is in England whether you like it or not, losing at whatever sport is neither patriotic or a sportsman.
