FIRE crews from both Looe and Lostwithiel were scrambled to a fire in Polperro during the early hours of this morning.

Looe crews received reports that the three storey property was heavily smoke logged in the kitchen area.

Initially eight firefighters on two appliances from the town attended a premise where the kitchen was reportedly full of smoke at around 1.54am.

On arrival a request was made for another pump and so a major appliance from Lostwithiel with six firefighters was sent to attend.

Crews investigated and extinguished a fire in the utility using two breathing apparatus, a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher and one hose reel.

Once the fire was out crews wore six breathing apparatus to search the premise.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the building.
