Update: Collision on Atlantic Highway sees three hospitalised

A three vehicle collision on the A39 at Wainhouse Corner took place this morning as reports of icy roads in the area were being given out.

At 8.06 am a red Honda Civic, green Audi A3 and green Skoda Octavia were involved in a collision. Police say those involved were all local people.

The male driver of the Skoda and his sister have been admitted to Derriford Hospital and are in a stable condition. He is believed to have serious leg injuries, and his sister non-serious seat-belt injuries.

The Honda driver is still in a serious condition, with multiple injuries and a life-threatening head injury.

The Air Ambulance attended and collision investigators were called to the scene. The road was closed but has now re-opened.

Highways Agency set up diversions and gritting lorries were also working in the area.
Firecrews from Bude and the rescue tender from Bodmin were called to the scene and crash rescue equipment used to release the casualties.
