As pantomime season hits Truro some lucky local children are busy rehearsing at the Hall for Cornwall.
The 16 talented youngsters beat off strong competition to appear in Cinderella which begins on December 15.
The children are split into two teams of eight which will alternate each performance.
Among the children participating this year are Jenna Bray, 14, from Truro and Luke Jones, 12, from Hayle. Luke said: “It’s my first time in a Hall For Cornwall pantomime and it’s very exciting learning all the different routines.”
Jenna, who is returning for a second year having appeared in last year’s pantomime Aladdin, said: “It’s lovely to be back again as each year offers something different. It’s really fast-paced and a great experience - all good preparation for any future auditions and roles.”
Stewart Nicholls, director and choreographer said: “These local children are an important part of our pantomime and it’s wonderful to find so many talented young performers in Cornwall.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity for them to appear in a full scale production alongside a professional cast and offers invaluable experience of working in the performing arts.”
The children will be appearing alongside a full cast of professional actors including Granville Saxton, known for his appearances in two Harry Potter films as well as Joanna Munro who has appeared on television in BBC’s Angels, Dr Who and That’s Life.
Cinderella will be at Hall for Cornwall from December 15 to January 11 – with matinee and evening performances.
