Young man seriously injured during vicious unprovoked attack after night out in Redruth

POLICE are investigating after a young man was punched to the floor and kicked repeatedly in the head leaving him with serious facial injuries in Redruth.

The unprovoked attack happened while the man was walking home with a friend from the Zone nightclub in Redruth on Friday morning around 2.40am.

The two men were walking along Foundry Row towards Chapel Street when three other men verbally abused them.

The victims were walking away but were then set upon by the other group.

One of the victims was punched to the floor and repeatedly kicked in the head and upper body resulting in serious, potentially life changing, facial injuries.

He was rushed to hospital but released later on. It is understood the swelling on his face needs to subside before the damage can be assessed.

His friend was also attacked but is understood not to have serious injuries.

The main attacked is described as 5’4” to 5’6” tall, stocky and muscular in build with close shaved dark hair and clean shaven face.

He is believed to be in his thirties. The other two offenders were taller and slimmer aged in their mid twenties.

Following the assault the offenders ran off in the direction of Redruth town centre.
