STRONG winds and heavy rain have swept across Cornwall this morning, causing disruption.

The train line from St Ives has been blocked by a fallen tree and there have been reports of winds gusting to 70mph off the coast at St Ives.

A weather warning has been issued for the west of Cornwall and people are advised by coastguards to stay away from exposed coastal areas.

Two boats have been beached on the Isles of Scilly by the high tides overnight.

Heavy rain before 9am had left standing water on many roads and drivers are urged to use caution.
