THE West Briton's celebratory screening of Cornish feature film Weekend Retreat sold out on Monday evening.
It proved so popular writer and director Brett Harvey was forced to hold another showing straight after the 8.15pm slot.
The screening hosted to celebrate Mr Harvey being named Best Director at the London Independent Film Festival, will be followed by a showing to international film buyers at London UK Film Focus (Luff) on Tuesday.
Mr Harvey said 168 of the 216 cinemagoers at The Plaza in Truro on Monday evening watched Weekend Retreat.
He said: "It was brilliant. Because we had a screening in Truro just before Christmas I wasn't sure how many people were going to come. Quite a lot of the audience were seeing it for the first time and people seemed to really like it and were laughing and groaning in all the right places.
"A lot of people's mums were in last night and all the ones I spoke to seemed to enjoy it.
"My old landlord and Cornish artist Chris Billington was also there and I wrote the film while living in his house.
"For me the little things also made it, like seeing the film name above the auditorium door alongside Men In Black 3D and Snow White And The Huntsman."
On Tuesday the film will be showing at Luff at the same time as highly-publicised pop star Plan B's crime drama film Ill Manors.
