THE police are warning dog walkers to be vigilant after palm oil was discovered on a Cornish beach this morning.
The white, waxy substance was seen on Fistral Beach at Newquay and could pose a risk to dogs if eaten.
Newquay police inspector Dave Meredith warned people to be carful. The advice is to keep dogs on a lead.
The material has been washing up along the north coast and also at Porthleven in the last few days.
The same substance was also seen washing up on beaches in west Cornwall last October. The source has not been identified.
