Warden Hodges was a stroke of genius. May you rest in peace, Bill Pertwee. You kept me in stitches. Loved your book on Dad's Army, too.

Josdave, of course they have proof readers, the only problem is that they themselves generally have no idea about English grammar either, they seem to rely on computer spelling and grammar checkers the software of which is written by americans.

"Dad's Army favourite Bill Pertwee who, lived in a residential home in Wadebridge, has died." RIP BIll I did like the shows he was in. To whoever wrote that first sentence - the comma is in the wrong place. As someone who only got an 'O' level in English I am constantly seeing grammatical and spelling errors by journalists who should know better. Don't you use proof readers anymore?"
