Heavy overnight rain in Cornwall on Friday wiped out many football matches this morning – with some already casualties of the persistent wet weather.

The only Cornwall Senior Cup ties to survive the deluge are Godolphin Atlantic v Callington and St Blazey v Sticker. The five other scheduled ties were all postponed this morning.

New dates: Dobwalls v Wendron, Sat Jan 25; Launceston v St Dennis, Tues 21; St Day v Penzance, Sat 25; Saltash v Ludgvan, Wed 22; Torpoint v St Austell, Tues 21.

In the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, the only remaining premier division game is Falmouth Town against Liskeard Athletic at Bickland Park (3pm).

All division one west matches have been postponed.

Truro City’s scheduled Calor Southern League match at Biggleswade Town today was postponed on Friday evening.

There was better news this morning from Essex where Bodmin Town’s FA Carlsberg Vase fourth round tie at Brightlingsea Regent was set to go ahead after a dry night.

Officials at the Eastern Counties League premier division club reported that the weather was dry and sunny this morning, ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

In the Jolly's Combination League the only three games still on are Goonhavern v Illogan; Mullion v Falmouth Town and RNAS Culdrose v St Just.

In rugby, St Austell’s Tribute South West One West match against Hornets at Weston-super-Mare was called off after a Friday inspection.
