GREEN-FINGERED Townshend residents filled their small village hall with an impressive array of entries for their annual show.

Co-organiser Sarah Chapman said the flowers and vegetables looked fantastic, despite worries about the impact of recent poor weather.

Prizes were presented by Margaret Wiers, who was representing Cornwall Hospice Care, and the show held a collection for the charity which raised £115 on the day. Of that, £40 came from the 'people's cake' section where visitors were invited to taste a selection of entries and vote for their favourite by placing a coin in a pot.

Ms Chapman said: "The most popular cake was a decorated sponge made by Jenny Meagan who was thrilled that so much money had been raised by her cake."

She added that overall the show was an enjoyable success and the committee wanted to thank all those who entered and the judges.
