Vandals who targeted two properties and a bus shelter in Hayle have caused more than £1,000 worth of damage.

Windows were broken at both the Spar shop and the Royal Mail sorting office at Foundry Square and a number of panels smashed at the nearby bus shelter.

The incident happened at around 11.45pm on Monday January 13.

Police Constable John Fulker said: “It is believed that the person responsible used a catapult and ball bearings to cause this damage.”

The bus shelter alone is thought to cost around £1,000 to repair.

PC Fulker added: “Whoever is responsible for this needs to realise that their irresponsible behaviour is having a negative effect on a wide section of the community. People need to be a bit more considerate and a bit more community minded.”

Police are asking for the public’s help to track down those responsible.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting crime reference AY/14/48.

As well as naming and shaming them they should be put in the stocks. Oh sorry I forgot we must look after their human rights. What a pity our courts refuse to punish idiots like these.
