Perrnaporth’s Ben “Skindog” Skinner has landed a star role in German liquor giant Jägermeister’s first UK advert.
The 12 time European longboard champion and world number 2 appears beside 5 other professional surfers in the campaign for the liquorice flavoured alcohol.
The 40 second film, which cost £3 million, was shot over ten days last November in various locations across Iceland.
Ben said: “It was the trip of a lifetime.
“It was such an experience and we were really lucky to be chosen.
“It’s a privilege and a pleasure to appear in Jägermeister’s first UK advert. It was hard to call it work really.”
The advert shows Ben, his brother-in-law, Oli Adams, and fellow surfers Ritchie Fitzgerald, Dave Blount and Owen Davies, enjoying the chilly waters and Nordic spoils of Iceland.
Ben added: “We had a phenomenal time. We’re all really great friends and we just laughed all the time and we really embraced being there.
“The surfing was incredible, but it was properly cold - minus 2 degrees.
“You don’t really experience much colder than that. That’s kind of cold gets to your bones.”
The advert will premiere on ITV next Wednesday during England’s friendly football match against Denmark.
Ben is planning to watch its first airing with a glass of Jägermeister among friends before jetting off to start a busy season of competitions around the world.
He said: “I want to retain all my titles. I will be fighting to retain my European title and competing for the world title.”
