LOVE is in the Cornish air as the Truro has been named one of the most romantic places in the UK by the Royal Mail.
The city has come in 10th position in the postal service’s annual League Table of Love, which looks at where cupid’s letters have landed in the UK.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Royal Mail has analysed the number of cards distributed by local Mail Centres in February last year.
Their findings show that the number of letters posted by love struck residents in the TR postcode increased by 6.5 percent on February 13 2013 compared to the same day the week before.
A spokesman from the Royal Mail said: “I’m delighted to declare Truro as one of the most romantic places in the UK.
“It’s clear people in the city have been bitten by the love bug and want to share their love by sending Valentine’s Day cards.
“Valentine’s Day is a busy time for us so we would remind people to send them in good time so we can deliver your message to your loved one in time for February 14th.”
The Carlisle Mail Centre topped the Royal Mail’s League poll, with romantics posting an impressive 32.4 per cent more letters in the week leading up to Valentine ’s Day.
