A BLAZE broke out and devastated a city centre house this afternoon.

Smoke billowed out of a first-floor window of a house in Castle street as firefighters battled the blaze.

Three fire crews were called to the scene as the road was closed causing rush hour traffic chaos.

Neighbour Gail Henderson said: “The window was open and there was thick black smoke coming out.”

The house is shared by several young people. Two young people were thought to be in the house at the beginning of the fire but escaped without harm.

An ambulance rushed to the scene but nobody was thought to be injured in the fire.

Because people could have been killed or injured.

why was my comment "must have left the growing lights on" a stupid comment. Considering it was a shared house by students, I thought it was quite witty and quick.
