Former Truro City player-manager Lee Hodges is to be assistant manager at his former club Torquay United, after the appointment of former team-mate Chris Hargreaves as the new Gulls’ boss.
Hodges guided City into Conference South for the first time in their history by winning the Southern League premier division title in 2011, but amid increasing financial problems the club were relegated at the end of last season and the popular Hodges was not offered a new contract.
He joined Carlsberg SWPL premier division St Austell, but made only handful of appearances because of injury.
Hodges spent two years at Torquay between 2008-2010 after a successful seven year spell with Plymouth Argyle.
United chairwoman Thea Bristow. said: “We have been inundated with applications from across the football world, and thank-you to all those interested in the position, but once the decision was made for a change of direction, Chris was always our first choice.
‘’He was very impressive in the interview and I am delighted to have both Chris and Lee Hodges back at Plainmoor.
‘’We now have a vibrant and ambitious management team to take us forward to the next stage in our development as a club, and we are all excited for the future.’’
The League 2 side are currently second from bottom of the table and in danger of relegation following a poor run of results which saw the departure of Alan Knill.
