A former president of Truro City Football Club has died.
The club said Ricky Prosser died at 4am on Saturday after losing his fight with liver cancer.
Mr Prosser was made president of Truro City in the late 1970s and held the position until the club went into administration last year.
His relationship with Truro City began after Mr Prosser’s first visit to Cornwall in 1976 when he stayed at the Ponsmere Hotel in Perranporth and met the then chairman of Truro City, Tim Hamilton.
A spokesman for Truro City said Mr Prosser visited Truro on regular occasions and supported the club financially.
“He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to meet him,” said the spokesman.
A one-minute silence will be held ahead of tomorrow’s home game against St Dennis in memory of Mr Prosser.
