A LONG-standing Newquay Cornwall Councillor has died.
Harry Heywood, who was Cornwall Councillor for Treviglas ward until the local elections in May this year, has passed away following recent illness.
Friends and former colleagues of Mr Heywood, who was also a previous Restormel mayor, have paid tribute to a man they say dedicated many years of service to the Newquay community.
Cornwall Councillor for Newquay Treloggan ward, Dave Sleeman, said: “Harry did a lot for this town.
“He was a very good man to work with who had a very positive approach.
“It’s a great loss to the community. I feel very sad. He will be sorely missed by this town.”
Joanna Kenny, Cornwall councillor for Pentire, said: “Harry was one of those people who worked so hard for Newquay. This is a real loss for the town.”
