A Toddler has died after she was involved in a collision with a van in Tintagel.

The young girl was flown to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance after she suffered serious head injuries during the incident, which took place on Molesworth Street at around midday.

The child, who is believed to have been walking in the village with her sister at the time of the incident, was pronounced dead at Derriford Hospital.

She lived with her family a short distance from where the accident occurred.

The main road in Tintagel was closed between the top of Molesworth Street and the social hall while police collision investigators carried out enquiries.

The van driver, who is believed to work for a Wadebridge firm, was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference number 280 of February 25.
