Organisers of tomorrow's summer fete at Morrab Gardens, Penzance have postponed the event after high winds raised safety concerns.
The Friends of Morrab Gardens were due to hold their annual fete from 10am to 4pm but the stormy weather has played havoc with their plans.
An inspection of the site this morning found that it would be too dangerous to set up stalls in the gardens.
"Because of the high winds the people setting up the stalls thought it would be too dangerous," said Joe Palmese, head gardener at Morrab.
He added that Morrab Library will continue with its part of the summer fete tomorrow as staff and volunteers can take shelter inside.
Mary Ellery, chairman of the friends group said the fete will now be held on Saturday June 30 from 10am 4pm.
A raffle, due to be drawn tomorrow at 3pm will still go ahead.
The Met Office said that 25mph winds are currently battering west Cornwall and the forecast is for more showers and blustery conditions tomorow.
