A Truro gym has won a top award for customer service at a prestigious ceremony.
Stringer’s Gym picked up the customer service Award at the National Fitness Awards hosted by Caroline Pearce, television presenter and former star of Gladiators.
The awards – organised by fitness industry magazine Workout and supported by headline sponsor Servicesport – are now in their fourth year and recognise excellence and achievement throughout the fitness industry.
To win the award, Stringer's Gym beat off competition from hundreds of entries from clubs around the country who were whittled down to a shortlist of six in each category.
Judges said: “Members have the option of paying by cash, cheque or debit card. Owner Ian states that this enables all members to have regular contact with our staff, ensuring a flexible approach to memberships.
“Stringer’s offers a relaxed, helpful environment. This fitness centre is carving out a niche that sets it apart from the rest.”
Each shortlisted club – from The Shetland Islands down to Cornwall – was visited by a member of the Workout team, who chatted to staff and members and took a look around the facilities, before compiling a comprehensive report to be passed on to an expert
This year’s judges included The Biggest Loser personal trainer Charlotte Ord and top fitness expert Dean Hodgkin.
More than 700 people, including Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, attended the glittering ceremony in Manchester, where awards were handed out in more than 20 categories.
