A St Ives pensioner has been cautioned after she was caught on CCTV stealing food from early morning deliveries left outside shops in the town.
The 62-year-old had been collecting small items of food in a bucket from orders left unattended before opening time.
She admitted 11 counts of theft after being questioned by police who were alerted to the problem by concerned shop owners.
Sergeant Mike Friday from the St Ives police team said the problem had started at the beginning of January until January 28.
"Shops were reporting small items missing from their deliveries," he said.
"St Ives police identified a 62-year-old lady who fully admitted to theft, they included things like eggs, grapes and courgettes. She was just taking a little bit from everyone's deliveries."
Sgt Friday said business owners should more careful not to leave stock unattended in the morning.
He added that the woman was not taking the food out of necessity.
"She saw all those deliveries and went round with her bucket," he said. "She was just doing it because of the opportunity."
