White River Place Shopping Centre's Great British Bag-athon event in aid of the British Heart Foundation received 1,193 bags of items which will now go on to be sold in BHF shops and could generate a whopping £23,800 for the charity.

The Great British Bag-athon at White River Place challenged the local community to donate their lovely clothing, toys, DVDs, accessories and CDs. 100% of the proceeds  made from the donated items will be invested in the fight against heart disease to help people in the local community.

"Thanks to all the St Austell community who took part in the Bag-athon challenge and donated bags, it really will make an enormous difference to the thousands of people in our region who suffer from heart disease," said Claire Daniel, Centre Manager at White River Place.

If you haven't donated a bag yet, there is still time.  Bags of items can now be taken to your nearest BHF shop.  For more information about The Great British Bag-athon, go to bhf.org.uk/bagathon.  To find your nearest BHF shop call 0844 412 5000.
