A Truro City fanatic is appealing for people to sponsor their favourite players to rescue the club from its desperate financial situation.
Mike Truscott is asking supporters and local businesses to sign up to giving £50 a week to sponsor a Truro City player.
Mr Truscott is leading from the front and has already pledged his weekly sum which could help see Truro City get through a difficult period.
The club went into administration after former chairman Kevin Heaney was declared bankrupt and was on the brink of being thrown out of the league before a trio of Truro businessmen stepped in.
Mr Truscott said: "I'm suggesting that we're looking for 20 businesses or individuals who would commit to sponsoring a player to the tune of £50 per week.
"It is no exaggeration, I submit, to say that this would make all the difference to the aim of having a good-quality, Conference-level squad here next season."
Mr Truscott sends out alerts to the public on behalf of the club to keep supportrs informed but he said the idea of sponsorship is purely a personal project.
He said: "Essentially, each sponsor will do it for the love of it and because he or she feels passionately about Truro City and Conference-standard football in Cornwall."
Mr Truscott suggested there could be other benefits for sponsors such as free admission and the sponsor's name alongside their player in the match programme.
Anybody who is interested in the sponsorship scheme should contact Mr Truscott on e-mail through firstname.lastname@example.org.
