FIREFIGHTERS were forced to smash a car window to rescue a child in Redruth this afternoon – but the noise failed to wake the toddler’s snoozing sibling.
The two-year-old managed to lock himself and a 6-month-old baby in their mother’s car on Station Road at around 2pm.
The youngster began to panic, leaving the Camborne crew with no choice other than to break the glass to rescue the pair.
Amazingly, the child’s tiny sibling managed to sleep through the commotion and remained blissfully unaware of the drama.
A fire service spokesman said: “It’s thought that a toddler in the vehicle pushed a button on the door locking the vehicle, with the mother’s keys inside. Crews made attempts to gain entry without damage to the vehicle but as the child was getting agitated had to break a window to gain entry. A 2-year-old was released and a 6-month-old baby slept through the ordeal.”
