A DESIRE to give something back to the local community has resulted in bumper business for Oggy Oggy pasty shop in Truro.
Backed by Crantock Bakery, which manufactures products for Oggy, new owner Beverley Chapman offered a free pasty to every West Briton reader on production of a voucher.
More than 1,400 vouchers were redeemed over the Easter period and new and returning customers reportedly loved the taste of the Oggy steak pasty.
"It's been amazing – we just haven't stopped," said Ms Chapman, who took over the Truro franchise eight months ago.
"Nearly everyone who has come in with a voucher has also bought other items and the feedback has been brilliant.
"I think our pasties have surprised a lot of people who haven't tried them before and it's also been an opportunity to see our new café."
MD of Crantock Bakery, Matthew Hurry, said: "We believe that the Oggy pasty is one of the best you can get in Truro so it's no surprise so many people took up the offer.
"Beverley and manageress Katie Nicholson have worked really hard and we're delighted with their success."
