Falmouth Coastguard's Inshore Lifeboat

A WORKING boat and a yacht were rescued in the Carrick Roads on Friday after getting into difficulty in adverse weather conditions.

Falmouth Coastguard launched both the All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats just after 12pm after reports that the sailing boats had been struggling to make headway due to the weather conditions.

The 25-foot traditional sailing boat Ivy, with two persons on board, was towing the sailing boat Door Mouse, which was of a similar size and had one person on board.

The outboard engine on the Door Mouse had failed and the boat was unable to sail so the Ivy had taken her in tow.

The All Weather Lifeboat was stood down at 12:23pm after the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on-scene and started escorting the two vessels into the harbour.

Once both sailing boats were safely heading up the Penryn River the lifeboat was released to return to the station.
