A TEENAGE DJ from Redruth racked up more than one million views on YouTube.

Alfie Coleman's remix of the popular Disclosure song White Noise quickly went viral on the video-sharing website.

The 18-year-old, who goes by the name of XY Constant, has also had his work featured by prominent music magazine Mixmag.

He said: "It didn't really sink in quite how much of a big deal it was until I stopped and thought that there are around half a million people living in Cornwall and my remix got more than double that number of views.

"I've been getting great feedback and my girlfriend even bumped into someone in London, who doesn't know me, with my remix on their phone.

"My family have always been into music and played in various bands.

"My older brother introduced me to electronic music when I was 12, but I didn't start taking it seriously until I was 16."

Alfie, who is studying music technology at Cornwall College Camborne, recently returned from playing an event in Dublin in front of 600 people.

He said: "Everything was organised by them.

"I was picked up from home on Saturday morning, flown from Newquay to London and then on to Dublin. I played the show, got a bit of sleep in the hotel before being picked up and flown home on Sunday morning."

He aims to produce an EP over the next year and hopes to be able to take up DJing as a profession.

He will perform at Five Degrees West in Falmouth on Saturday.

Entry is free.
