TODAY we officially launch this year's West Briton Community Awards, a chance for you to nominate the people who you think have made a special contribution to society.
This year, we will be welcoming nominations across 12 categories, with the winners being crowned at an awards ceremony at the Falmouth Hotel on November 13.
Last year, more than 1,300 votes were cast to highlight the work of the people who have made a vital difference to their communities.
Mark Sainsbury, managing director of Devon and Cornwall Media, is looking to build on the success of last year's event.
He said: "This is what our newspapers are all about. There are amazing people doing amazing things in our communities and we want to celebrate their achievements.
"Last year's event was a fantastic night, both humbling and inspiring to see what people are capable of. I'm grateful to all involved for taking part."
Last year, Rodda's was the winner of The Caring Company award and managing director Nick Rodda was there to receive the prize. He said: "We're thoroughly proud to receive the award. Cornwall has given so much to our company over the years so it feels thoroughly deserving to give something back."
West Briton editor Jacqui Walls is predicting big things for this year's West Briton Community Awards and is encouraging the public to get their nominations in quickly.
"The event last year was an undoubted success and everyone involved spoke of a great night with a real community atmosphere," she said.
"This year we promise that the awards will again honour the people who went the extra mile to help those around them, and we are eagerly anticipating the event."
