HEAVY rain and freak hail storms battered Falmouth, leaving the high street flooded and parts of the town under a white blanket.

Witnesses reported garages flooding and manholes bursting as the hail hit at about 5pm on Friday and turned into a stream of water.

Pictures posted on Twitter showed driveways looking like a winter wonderland.

Nearby Mawnan was reportedly sunny, while parts of the town centre flooded on Friday afternoon, reportedly due to a combination of a high tide, heavy rain and "poorly maintained" drains.

The Prince of Wales pub was inundated and bar manager Gail Parks said: "It was quite bad – we were flooded.

"A couple of the customers took off their shoes and socks and helped us out. We got pumped out by the fire brigade.

"There's a lot of damage to the floor, but we're not too bad – we managed to reopen after a few hours after cleaning everything out.

"The drains aren't properly maintained. It's happened before."

Other Falmouth buildings affected included Ladbrokes and the British Heart Foundation's furniture and electrical shop.

Rob Painter, a warehouse supervisor in the charity store, said: "I came in on Saturday and half the floor was flooded. It was soaked.

"The drains were still overflowing on Saturday – there's nowhere for the water to go, it all just pools at the bottom of the road."

The store reopened at lunch-time. "We had the dehumidifiers in and shampooed the carpet – none of the stock was damaged," said Mr Painter.

Yes I witnessed the storm. And I also witnessed the clear blue sky the day before. I also noticed a Z shaped vapour trail in the sky. Often suspecting that our weather was being manipulated with what is called 'chemtrails' I was interested to see what the weather would be like the next day. Sure enough, looking up towards Mabe from Asda, I noticed a very strange cloud formation. At first I thought it was smoke from a fire, as the dark cloud seems to be rising from the hill behind Mabe. As the sky slowly darkened, the downpour came leaving floods and sheets of white hailstones up towards Goldenbank. Is somebody playing with the weather? Is it a global plan? What's going on, and are these vapour trails toxic and dangerous? http://tinyurl.com/nsozwkv
