Some homes in Cornwall could be without power for up to 48 hours.
Western Power Distrubtion (WPD) confirmed that 2,000 homes are stil without power in the county after yesterday's storm.
Gusts of up to 80mph brought down power cables in several areas, with homes in the Lizard and along the South coast most affected.
WPD said it has been working hard all day to restore power where possible.
A spokesman for WPD, said: "We are not sure if everyone will be back on tonight. It depends on the weather conditions.
"Where we can fix the lines safetly we are doing it."
Up to 8,000 homes across the South West are currently without power with more than 271 incidents recorded.
The spokesman added: "Our plan is to have everyone in the South West back on in 48 hours."
