A COUPLE from Porthleven have retired after toasting the end of their working lives at the weekend.

David and Grace Lugg were married in 1972 and the couple have three children and seven grandchildren.

Mrs Lugg, originally from Porthleven, worked as a nurse at the Royal Cornwall and West Cornwall hospitals, in nursing homes and then at the hospital in Helston. She has spent the past nine years working at St Julia's Hospice at Hayle.

Mr Lugg is a former dairy farmer from Penzance. He stopped farming a few years ago due to health reasons and began to do gardening for the elderly around Helston.

They are both active members of the Light and Life Church, in Helston, and Mr Lugg has spent the past three weeks collecting for the Christmas shoe box appeal.
