A FUNDRAISING pet show and fun day is being held at Porthleven School this Sunday to help equip a new £18,000 teaching studio.

The show will be held at the school between 11am and 4pm and feature curious creatures from Newquay Zoo's Critters and Bugs Show and exotic animals from Mark's Ark.

Other attractions include a Punch and Judy show and balloon show.

People are also encouraged to enter their own pets into the show. Pupils of Porthleven School can enter for free otherwise there is a small charge.

All money raised will be going towards a new school science, cookery and art studio.

This £18,000 facility has been donated by construction company Interserve, which has an office in Truro.

Interserve has agreed to build and supply all materials for the project and the school is raising money for equipment.

Organiser Leigh Yates said: "After the recent storm woes we needed something to lift the spirits of children and villagers. Sue Davis came up with the barking idea of a community pet show and family fun day.

"We have invited all the schools in our trust to enjoy Porthleven hospitality and have fun as a family."

The event has been sponsored by Helston veterinary clinic Head and Head and Porthleven's Top Chippy. Entry costs £1 for adults and 50p for children.
