CORNWALL Council has re-elected John Pollard as leader for another year.
Independent councillor Mr Pollard was unanimously supported to continue in the role at the council's full meeting on Tuesday.
Accepting his appointment, he said: "It is an extremely humbling experience and it is an emotional experience as well.
"I am extremely grateful for the continuing support that I have had. I was quite surprised last year to be offered the job but welcome the opportunity to act as leader."
He added: "It has been a great privilege to be leader of Cornwall Council; it is not always a pleasure but a great privilege."
He thanked officers for their support as well as support from councillors of all political persuasion, and the Cabinet.
Mr Pollard said he and his Cabinet would continue to work in the best interests of the people of Cornwall.
Cornwall Council also re-elected John Wood as chairman of the council and Ann Kerridge as vice-chairman.
Mr Wood said he was "overwhelmed" to have been selected for another year and said that the last year had been "an honour and a privilege".
