A POLITICS student has undertaken a week's work experience – in Brussels.

Dominic Whiting, in the second year of a degree in politics and international studies at Exeter University's Penryn campus, shadowed Cornwall's Liberal Democrat MEP Sir Graham Watson.

"It's been really great to shadow Graham and see how it all works in practice," he said. "I can now appreciate the daily work of an MEP and I've learnt a lot about how they debate and vote, and about all sorts of issues such as foreign policy and relations with North Africa or the Catalan situation in Spain."

Mr Watson said: "It was a pleasure to have Dominic here. It's very encouraging to see so many young people, like Dominic, showing an active interest in the work of the European Parliament."
