Police are urging members of the public to avoid making any unnecessary journeys this evening due to dangerous driving conditions.

Force incident manager Andy McClenaghan from Devon and Cornwall Police said officers are dealing with numerous incidents across the county.

“During this period of bad weather we are advising people not to make any unnecessary journeys,” he said.

“At the moment, we are stretched to capacity with all the resources we have got on duty.”

At 5.30pm emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A30 near Bodmin after a car aquaplaned and veered into another vehicle. Police say the road is not closed but are advising motorists to take care in the area.

There are reports of a second accident on the A30 eastbound between Fraddon and Roche.
