Police are appealing for witness following a robbery overnight at the Shell Garage at Fraddon just off the A30 near Kingsley Village.

Officers were called to reports of a male with a handgun who made off with a quantity of scratchcards from the garage around 10.30pm last night.

Armed and unarmed officers supported by the Police helicopter were involved in a search of the area. The suspect is described as being a white male in his late teens/early twenties.

He was wearing a blue striped top and a green balaclava.

Inspector Andy Oliver from the Force Control room said "I would like to assure the public that incidents of this nature are luckily few and far between in the two counties.

"No-one was injured and I would urge anyone with information to get in contact on the 101 telephone number quoting log 801 of 17th September to help quickly bring the suspect to justice."

Police Superintendent Julie Whitmarsh said there would be "lots of work ongoing today following last night's robbery at Fraddon" and that "extra police will be in the area today."

Officers are aware that the nearby McDonalds car park is a place young people often meet up with their cars. It’s possible someone in that area may have seen the suspect either before or after the incident took place.

A police spokesman said “If anyone who was in the vicinity of the Shell garage, such as the McDonalds car park, saw anyone acting suspiciously we’d like to hear from them. They may have a small detail that could help us catch this offender.”

Anyone with information about this incident can call 101 and quote log 801 of 17 September.

The public can also contact the police anonymously on the CRIMESTOPPERS telephone number 0800 555111.

What a pathetic individual stealing a pile of worthless scratchcards. He left the shopkeeper traumatised. Sad. I doubt if the police can be bothered to catch him though.

"extra police will be in the area today." my thinking would be they are far away from Fraddon and would be very unlikely to be waiting around the corner..
