Police are hunting for a man who carried out a sustained and unprovoked attack on another man in Redruth in the early hours of Sunday 18th November.

The 49-year-old victim bought two boxes of food from a burger van outside The Twilight Zone nightclub at around 1.45am when he was approached by a man and a woman.

The man kicked one of the boxes of food out of the victim’s hand and swiped the second box to the floor. The female companion remonstrated about the incident and the offender agreed to go to a cashpoint to repay the man for the food.

On the way to the cash machine, however, the victim was knocked to the ground by the male offender and repeatedly kicked and punched around the head and body.

The victim, from Redruth, suffered serious injuries and required hospital treatment for two black eyes, a mouth injury and facial swelling and bruising.

Detectives are now hunting the offender who ran from the scene at Tolgus Hilll/ Foundry Row towards the Redruth town centre.

He is described as white, about 25, of medium build, with short dark hair and was wearing a shirt.

Police are also keen to speak to the woman who left the scene on her own in a vehicle, possibly a taxi.

Detective Constable Craig Daddow, of Camborne CID, said: “This was a vicious and sustained attack which left the victim traumatised and with serious facial injuries.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault to come forward. We are particularly keen to speak to the woman who was seen with the male offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Camborne CID by telephoning 101, quoting reference AC/12/4570.
