A man from St Breward who died after an accident on the M4 in Wiltshire on Wednesday morning has been named as 62 year-old John Fry.

Mr Fry was driving a lorry loaded with hay when the vehicle left the motorway shortly after 7am and ended up in a ditch two miles west of the Leigh Delamere Services.

Police, ambulance and fire crews attended the accident but Mr Fry was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicle was involved.

Mr Fry was employed by Davidstow haulage company HN Sillifant and Son, where he had worked for 16 years.

Two lanes of the motorway were closed for a period of time to allow accident investigators to examine the scene and for the Volvo articulated vehicle, which had come to an upright stop, to be recovered.

Wiltshire police are seeking witnesses who saw the lorry leaving the road or saw it immediately prior to the incident and are asked to contact PC David Williams of the Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) on 101.
