Plymouth rout West Cornwall in schools cup

FOOTBALL: Plymouth Schools cleared the first hurdle in the ESFA Under-15 Inter Association Trophy with a 9-0 demolition of West Cornwall at Erme Valley, Ivybridge.

Their reward is a home tie against North Devon in the second round.

Dan Sullivan (Ivybridge CC) scored two of the goals and created two more.

Plymouth took the lead in the first minute when Matt Lecointe (Ivybridge CC) coolly slotted the ball past the opposition 'keeper.

The home side went further ahead when Plymouth captain and defender James Bradley headed home a corner from Sullivan.

It was 3-0 in the 32nd minute when Sullivan scored with a fierce shot.

Tyler Harvey (Ivybridge CC) and Sullivan Plymouth 5-0 up inside the opening eight minutes of the second half.

Matt Johnson (Devonport HS) came on for Sullivan and his first run produced a second goal for Lecointe. Johnson put in a deep cross which Lecointe headed back across the 'keeper and into the far corner.

Lecointe completed his hat-trick with a penalty after a handball to make it 7-0.

Plymouth added two more through Eddy Dann (Plymstock School) in the closing minutes.
