Fitness fans will have a new place to try out as a private gym is opened in Goldsithney.

Penzance mum-of-two, Amanda Jelbert, has set up Energize and is hoping to attract clientele with a broad range of interests.

The gym offers state of the art cardio equipment, as well as a free weights area and a punch bag.

Energize, which is located on Gears Lane, is also offering boxercise classes with qualified instructor Carly Jacka, personal training sessions and circuit training.

Amanda said: “It’s a much more private, secluded and quiet gym. We are very flexible with what clients want to do. We are in it more to help people than to make massive profits.”

With a five-year-old and a nine-year-old who are both autistic, Amanda is a full-time carer who decided to start the business as a way to bring in some extra money.

She is hoping to set up classes to help other children with disabilities.

“Because I have two special needs children myself, it’s so nice to give something back. I am really offering the space to individuals or parents to see what they could do in it, because every child’s capabilities are different.”

In the future, Amanda is planning to have a Jacuzzi and steam room installed.

Energize is open Monday to Saturday 9am-9pm, although other times can be available on request.

Unlimited membership costs £25 a month, personal training sessions are £15 and fitness classes cost £5.
