A MAJOR road in Penryn was closed in both directions today while some 'unsafe' fir trees were chopped down.

The B3292 at The Praze junction with Truro Hill was closed while work was carried out to remove some fir trees which were at risk of falling into the road.

A Cornwall Council spokesman said: "The road is closed under an emergency closure to allow some unsafe fir trees, at risk of falling, to be urgently taken down."
