A PENRYN councillor who has dedicated 15 years of his life to the town has been selected as the deputy mayor.

Councillor Mark Snowdon, the chairman of the council's planning committee, was unanimously selected as the deputy mayor earlier this month after being nominated by Councillor Mary May and seconded by Councillor Gill Grant.

Councillor Snowdon, who has been a member of the council since November 1999, said: "I would like to thank members for this appointment.

"After many years serving as a councillor, I am now in a position to take on the role and will do so to the best of my ability."
