Paul will meet Crofty Holman or Falmouth in the Vinter Cup final after a six-wicket victory over Cornwall Premier League rivals Camborne at Hayle on Monday evening.

Camborne got off to a flyer as Nick King (18) and Matt Rowe (16) put on 41 in five overs. After King was excellently caught by Ross Williams the run out of Rowe proved a turning point.

They lost regular wickets before Dan Stephens made 22 to give a late boost. In reply, after Kieran Butler made 13, Charlie Goldsworthy hit 28 but with 33 needed off the last five overs there was still work to do.

Paul skipper Kelvin Snell secured the win, however, making 61 before being dismissed in the penultimate over, with the scores level. Jeff Carvelly, Matt Rowe, Craig Johnson and Sam Pooley all took a wicket.

Paul, who finished Vinter Cup runners-up to local rivals St Just in 2006, 2009 and 2011 will hope to make it fourth time lucky as they look to get their hands on the trophy for the first time in the final at Roskear, Camborne next Wednesday.

There they will play the winners of tonight’s rearranged second semi final between Crofty Holman and Falmouth, due to be played at Redruth (6pm).

Scores: Camborne 127-7 (D Stephens 22, N King 18, M Rowe 16; T Riggall 2-15, C Donnelly 2-32). Paul 131-4 (K Snell 61).
