Padstow’s lifeboat was launched last night and a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was put on standby when a fire broke out on a fishing boat off the North Cornwall coast.
The boat was three miles off Trevose Head when the alarm was sounded at 8.20pm.
Padstow lifeboat crew went alongside the boat and found the fire in its engine had been put out.
The fishing boat was towed back to Padstow where firefighters from the town checked it over.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place later this morning.
