ARTISTS in Helston will be opening up their studios for the public next weekend.
The Cornubian Arts and Science Trust (Cast) building in Penrose Road will be open between 11am and 5pm on May 24 and 25.
The building is the old Passmore Edwards school and former community centre.
Cast chairwoman Teresa Gleadowe said: "It is now nearly a year since the first artists moved into studios in the building.
"The north-facing rooms are classic studio spaces with their high ceilings and north light. Spaces of this kind have always attracted painters."
"The building requires substantial renovation, but work undertaken in the past six months has opened up new spaces and two or three new studios will very soon be ready for additional artist tenants."
Although the majority of artists in the building are painters – Nicola Bealing, Mike Hoggett, Juliette Paull, Mark Hedger, Shelly Tregoning, Tim Pryke and Joe Skinner, as well as Nicola Bealing – the Cast building also accommodates sculptors Amy Thomas and Oliver Irvine, film-maker Roger Thorp, photographer James Hankey and printmaker Sally Cole. Admission is free.
