Olympic bronze medal holder, Katrina Bryant, presented Penrose Judo Club in Helston with its new Clubmark.
The judo champion recently attended a Olympian judo event in Newquay where the award was handed over.
The British Judo Association and Sport England bronze clubmark is a universally acknowledged accreditation scheme for community sports clubs.
Club secretary, Sue Bennett, said it shows the club is providing the right environment to ensure the welfare of members and encouraging everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.
At present, the club is the only BJA club in Cornwall to hold this accreditation, she added.
Over the past two years, the club has used funding from Sported, Cornwall Community Foundation and Sport England to establish an outreach programme taking judo into the community, and training two volunteers.
The club runs on a Friday evening in St Mary’s RC Church Hall in Clodgey Lane (just off the Tesco roundabout) as well as running taster sessions and demonstrations at local events and out in the community.
Anyone wishing to set up a taster session or have a go, can contact Richard Hurst on 07545 802315 for further details.
